Marianne’s family loves extraordinary tastes, especially for marmalades and jams. She is keen on trying new recipes whenever she finds time to produce new flavors and combinations. So I get from her new delicious recipes for the Chef’s Handyman recipe blog. My mother is also a great jam producer. She likes more the fruity fresh tastes and Marianne is an expert in non-traditional combinations.

Chef's Handyman, recipe blogWhen Marianne visited me at home and was explaining her new creations, my family members where extremely unsure about the result. Orange and bell pepper as jam! None of us could have any idea about the taste. But when we all tried her new experiment, we all were very surprised and delighted. What a great marmalade recipe for the Chef’s Handyman recipe blog! This jam can also be used as chutney for Indian dishes or as topping for soft cheese.

Chef’s Handyman cooking recipe for 4 persons: Orange bell pepper marmalade.

Chef's Handyman, recipe blogTo make jam: Cut 1 red or yellow bell pepper in pieces. Add 2 tbsp. of orange peel. Peel oranges. Cut oranges and fresh ginger root in pieces. Mix all ingredients in a cutter or mix with a hand blender. To give flavor, pound 1 tbsp. of black pepper in the mortar. Add pepper to the mixture. All ingredients should have a weight of approx. 750 g or 24 Oz. If not so add more orange or fill up with orange juice. Add 600 g or 18 Oz. of sugar and 1 tsp. of Agar Agar. Preserving or jam sugar will be fine as well.

Bring to the boil. Leave for 5-10 minutes. When jam gelatinizes, fill up in jam glasses. Close them. Turn glasses upside down. Leave for 5 minutes. Turn back. Cool jam.

Shopping list for 4 persons:
Vegetables: 1 red or yellow bell pepper
Fruits: 3-4 Oranges
Spices: 1 tbsp. black pepper, 0.5 Oz. fresh ginger
Baking Ingredients: 1 tsp. Agar Agar, 18 Oz. sugar, or 18 Oz. of jam or preserving sugar
