The finger lime tree is an Australian plant with extraordinary limes! The tip of the day in the Chef’s Handyman recipe blog!

Chef's Handyman, recipe blogAt the weekend shopping I saw this special lime. I never have seen this fruits before.

The finger lime trees grow in the rainforest in the Eastern coast of Australia. They were over generations one of the food sources for the Aboriginal people.

The fruits do have different colors, from yellow to dark red. Unfortunately I could buy only one sort of these fruits.

Lime fingers can be used for desserts, drinks or as decoration for fish or other dishes. The fruit pulp reminds me of caviar. The fruity taste is more intensive as of the traditional limes.

Chef's Handyman recipe blogChef’s Handyman tip for the recipe blog: Smoked salmon with finger limes!

Finger limes give the salmon a special taste. This starter can easily be made. Serve smoked salmon with horse radish mousse and pumpernickel. Garnish with lime finger pulp.

These lime fingers can be found in Globus Zurich, Glattzentrum. These citrus fruits are so special and great in taste.
