With porridge into the day. Who likes porridge? Not really many, right? Yet this breakfast is underestimated and unjustly spurned. Enriched with fruits and nuts as well as cinnamon and vanilla it tastes really great. It is also very quick to prepare. Summer is always a good time to start with a healthy diet. With all the fruits and salads it is not difficult. The Chef’s Handyman team also thinks so and eats away the whole pan with the porridge.
Porridge with fruits and spices
Heat a mixture of 4 dl soy milk or almond milk and 3 dl water in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla pulp. Add 200 g oat flakes. Simmer on a low heat for 10-15 minutes. When too much liquid has been removed, add another 1 dl almond or soy milk.
Coarsely crush some nuts. Cut peaches into slices.
Divide the porridge into bowls. Garnish with the peach pieces and the berries. Add the nuts. Dust with cinnamon. Who likes can sweeten with agave syrup.
Shopping list for 2 serves
- 4-5 dl almond or soy milk (normal milk can also be used)
- 200 g oat flakes
- 3-4 dl water
- vanilla pulp
- cinnamon
- agave syrup
- peaches
- berries or cherries
- cherries
- 0.5 cups nuts
Chef’s Handyman Tip: There are also porridge mixes. These can also be used. However, they contain sugar.
