Arabian Nights
Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, falcon hospital
My must-to-see list is huge. There are so many places of interests to visit around the world, right? The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai are one of them. Both buildings are spectacular. Especially the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a feast for the eyes. The white color with the blue shining water in front of the archways and the mosaic pictures on the bottom and the walls are stunning. The beautiful carpet and the different lusters are real masterpieces.
Bird lovers may be interested also in the falcon hospital in Abu Dhabi. The hospital is the world’s famous welfare institution. A falcon is not only a man’s hobby the bird is treated like a family member. Falcons do also have their own passports. The trip should be booked in advance. The hospital is not in the city therefore a car is needed as well.
Dubai, Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa, the world’s highest building with 828 m, is located in Dubai. We focused to get tickets for the sunset. It was the best idea. To see the sunset on the top (555 m) is like a cherry on the cake. The bird’s eye view was breathtaking. The houses around the building looked like little boxes. Between 6.45 – 7.00 p.m. the light show at the Burj Khalifa starts. I never saw such a great spectacle before. The colors and the designs are marvelous. The Burj Khalifa is an attraction pole. Tickets for the top should be organized in advance to avoid queuing up.
Abu Dhabi, Capital Gate
Architecture interested travelers will find many great buildings in the United Arab Emirates. One of them is the Capital Gate in Abu Dhabi. The building is more crooked than the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s an office building with a hotel. The Hyatt Capital Gate is located on the top floors. The rooms are huge and the view over Abu Dhabi awesome. Why not having breakfast, lunch or dinner on the balcony in the 18th floor? The view is spectacular, especially during the night. The breakfast buffet is rich and the dishes for lunch or dinner are delicious.
Park Hyatt, Dubai
We spent the last two days at the Park Hyatt in Dubai. A wonderful place to relax, surrounded by a huge park with several restaurants. We ate in the Thai Kitchen and the Café Arabesque. Both of them had an excellent menu card especially the three-course lunch buffet at the Café Arabesque was delicious. Sometimes we love also in-room dining. At the Park Hyatt we had a room with a balcony and a view to the boats and the Burj Khalifa in the background. So we could still enjoy the great view, while eating food from the room service.
My tip, before you intend to embark a spa treatment will be the right choice for a relaxing flight home.
Everywhere in the cities I could smell a light breeze of spices like vanilla and cinnamon. There are lots of perfumeries around. The Middle Eastern fragrances do tickle the nose. Eastern perfumes are common not only by women no also men are interested in Eastern scents. I could not resist and bought also a small bottle of memories.
The United Arab Emirates are worth a visit.
Have a great week, yours Chef’s Handyman team.
