Watermelon slices, yellow like the sun
Outside it’s raining cats and dogs. The right weather, to bring sunshine on the plates! Why not starting with a gold infused fruit salad? Have you ever tried a yellow watermelon? The shape and the taste is quite the same like those from the red sister. Yellow and red a great combination for salads and desserts! It’s time to give the yellow watermelon also a chance, says the Chef’s Handyman team.
Yellow fruit salad
To make the salad, cut the watermelon, the nectarines, one mango, one star fruit, the pineapple, two bananas and one chili into small slices. Place them on plates. Sprinkle the pieces with lemon juice, lemon zest and 1 tbsp. of orange blossom water. Garnish with peppermint or lemon balm.
Shopping list for the yellow fruit salad for 4 serves: 1 small yellow watermelon, 1 mango, 2 bananas, 1-2 starfruits, 4 lemons, 1 pineapple, 2 apples, 2 nectarines or white peaches, 1 chili, 1 tbsp. orange blossom water, 1 bunch peppermint or lemon balm.
Melon tomato salad, vegan
For the salad cut tomatoes and watermelon into slices. Place them on plates. Sprinkle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar cream. Garnish with chili slices and herbs. Season the salad to taste with salt and black pepper.
Shopping list for the melon tomato salad for 4 serves: 1 box cherry tomatoes, 1 yellow watermelon, garden herbs, olive oil, balsamic vinegar cream, salt and black pepper.
Melon tomato salad, vegetarian
For the salad cut tomatoes and watermelon into slices. Place them on plates. Sprinkle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar cream. Garnish with chili slices and herbs. Season the salad to taste with salt and black pepper. Place one mozzarella cheese on top of the salad. Garnish with arugula.
