A trip to London feels like coming home. London is one of my favorite City. There are so many things to do and to explore.
Fortnum & Mason
Have you ever visited Fortnum & Mason? If you not, you might miss something. In the basement of the shop you will find a great selection of ingredients for a feast. How sad, my weekender is too small to carry all the delicious products home. So, I had to try them immediately. It’s hard to choose a selection, have you seen the photo below? Can you understand my dilemma?
Whole Foods
Exploring food stalls is a must for all amateur cooks. Great are those with a multicultural clientele, like Whole Foods. There you will find a wide range of spices and ingredients from around the world, so I can update my empty curry paste stock. Lucky me, I’m fond of curries. What about you?
Culinary trip through London’s restaurants
Luca, Islington-Barbican, London
British seasonal ingredients through an Italian lens, is written on their website. We were wondering what this exactly means in context to food. Simple ingredients, flavored and refined with herbs, spices and a breeze of Italian influences, a great combination. The menu is well chosen. The interior of the Luca restaurant is modern with a cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed our lunch there very much.
The Cinnamon Club, Westminster, London
The Cinnamon Club became one of our favorite places. I never had such deliciously seasoned Indian dishes before. Each plate was special. I’m delighted of starters much more than of desserts. The desserts were also divinely. Have you seen a Gin trolley before? I know cheese trolleys but no Gin trolley. It was a new experience for us to test. The restaurant is in the basement of an old English building with a library placed around the room. That gives a special atmosphere. A reservation is highly recommended to find a table over the weekend.
Brumus, London
After our shopping afternoon, we popped into the Brumus bar. All the chairs around the bar have dog silhouettes on the back. That’s a real eye catcher, especially for dog lovers. The owner’s dog name, gave also the name of the restaurant. What a nice story behind. They had such an interesting selection of drinks and aperitifs, that we decided to have dinner there as well. I love this place very much.
Are you interested in James Bond?
The London film museum with all the fancy cars might be a place to visit, when it’s raining cats and dogs.
Design Musem, London
What about the Design museum? Have you ever been there? Design is always a great delight, not only for people who go in for nostalgia! Do you remember the valentines, Olivetti’s typewriter or lots of other design examples?
Have you already planned your next trip to London? Have a great start into the week, yours Chef’s Handyman team.
